This thought experiment was instructive because it postulated that when a completely random event takes place, the act of observation is what actually made it so. In conjunction with the rapid discovery of the first batch of predicted particles after the Second World War, the evidence mounted for the chaotic nature of the smallest particles.

Indeed, the quantum model has been very successful. Every particle predicted by the Feynman diagrams of 1949 has been discovered as large enough energies can be harnessed to liberate them from normal matter.
